HISTORY

With the appointment of the third chairman Ham Young-joo of Hana Financial Group, a new chapter has been opened. Chairman Ham Young-joo has presented a vision for Hana Financial Group to rise as the genuine top financial group in Asia amidst the turning points of the financial industry such as the prolonged low growth due to COVID-19, accelerated aging, and the dissolution of boundaries in the financial industry through enhancing shareholders' value and corporate value, and building a transparent, fair, and stable governance structure. Based on the three major strategies of "reorganizing non-banking businesses, elevating the status of the global leading financial group, and driving digital finance innovation," a new history as the "top financial group in Asia" has already begun.

Hana Financial Group was launched in December 2005 with the aim of bolstering customer satisfaction and happiness through comprehensive financial products and services. The launch also enabled the group to take one step closer to its vision of realizing a premier financial service network, a market leader with greater synergy among its subsidiaries in banking, securities, credit cards, capital, and insurance.

To adapt to the rapid changes in customer demand, which increasingly favors a universal banking system, the group has adopted a business-unit matrix structure. This customer-centric system provides customers with integrated one-stop financial service with an emphasis on enhancing customer convenience.

To achieve mid-term goal by 2015 to become a world top 50 financial group based on its leadership in East Asia, Hana Financial Group has developed new growth engines, introduced new services with non-financial industries, and cultivated professional global talent.

In 1991, Hana Investment & Finance completed its conversion into a commercial bank, renamed Hana Bank. After the conversion, Hana Bank turned potential risks arising from rapid changes in Korea's economy and financial industry into another opportunity for future growth. The bank overcame unfavorable market conditions through its unwavering entrepreneurship, placing priority on customers and paving the way for the future. As a result, Hana Bank maintained decades of profitability and continued to pay dividends, the longest such period of profit in the Korean banking industry. With this success, it is now set to become a world-class financial group.
